Background:

Dr Yin is a neurologist with special interest in Movement Disorders. She is local to the Hurstville area having attended St George Girls’ High School before going on to tertiary education at the University of Sydney, studying combined degrees in Bachelor of Medical Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, graduating with Honours. She completed majority of her training at Westmead and Concord Hospitals. She did a Movement Disorders fellowship under the mentorship of Professor Victor Fung, gaining strong clinical and research experience in Parkinson’s Disease (including advanced therapies such as Duodopa intestinal gel infusion and Deep Brain Stimulation), Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, Huntington’s Disease, Dystonia, Gait disorders, Tremor, and Botulinum toxin injections (Botox). She has multiple publications and remains to be involved with research in fields related to movement disorders.

She is able to speak English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese.


Areas of Sub-Specialty/Special Interests:

  • Movement Disorders including Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, Huntington’s Disease, Cervical Dystonia, generalised dystonia, gait disorders, and tremor syndromes.
  • Parkinson’s Disease including managing Duodopa (levodopa intestinal gel infusion) therapy, and Deep Brain Stimulation surgery.
  • Botulinum Toxin injection therapy for PBS indications of cervical dystonia/ torticollis, chronic headaches/migraines, hyperhidrosis, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, and post-stroke spasticity.
  • Stroke, Seizure disorders/ Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis, and other general neurological disorders.
