Fees and Accounts
Billing information for insured, self insured, Workers' Compensation and DVA patients.
Hurstville Private Hospital has contracts with the majority of health funds and will verify your private health insurance status prior to your hospital admission.
Private Health Insurance
You may find that your health fund does not fully cover your stay, and that an out of pocket balance may occur. Estimated out of pocket expenses are payable on admission. These are estimates only and additional costs may be incurred based on your treating doctor’s findings and/or additional investigations or treatment required during your admission.
You are not required to pay the portion of your account that is covered by your health fund, as we will claim these benefits from the health fund on your behalf.
Self Insured Patients
Self insured patients are required to pay the estimated hospital account at the time of admission. These are estimates only and additional costs may be incurred based on your treating doctors findings and/or additional investigations or treatment required during your admission.
Department of Veterans' Affairs
Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) patients will have their account directly sent to the DVA for payment. See DVA for information about DVA services at Hurstville Private Hospital.
Workers Compensation
Workers Compensation patients need to ensure their admission has been approved by the appropriate Insurance Company prior to admission. Payment for additional costs based on your treating doctors findings and/or additional investigations or treatment required during your admission not covered by your workers compensation claim will be invoiced to you directly for payment.
Other Charges
After you leave hospital, you may receive accounts for other charges incurred during your stay that are not the responsibility of the hospital. They are therefore charged separately, and may include fees relating to:
- Your treating doctor
- Paediatrician
- Pathology
- Radiology
- Pharmacy
- Allied health care providers (social worker, occupational health etc)
We strongly recommend you check your level of coverage with your individual health fund prior to your admission to hospital and ensure your understanding of any excess payments and exclusions.
Payment Methods
We accept cash, Mastercard, Visa or EFTPOS. Please note that all card transactions will incur a surcharge per below.
