Assoc. Professor Kwan is the head of the respiratory department at The Sutherland Hospital and a conjoint lecturer with UNSW. He has significant interest in education and has convened multiple educational and training courses for the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and Australasian Sleep Association (ASA). He has an interest in interventional pulmonology, lung cancer, pleural diseases and sleep disordered breathing.

He speaks English and Cantonese.
