Garett is a leading laparoscopic general upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon with a particular interest in laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, weight loss surgery, anti-reflux and hiatus hernia surgery. Garrett also treats patients with oesophago-gastric cancer.

Garett completed his training in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery in Australia, The United Kingdom and the United States. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Sydney, past president of the Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society and founding executive member of the Australia and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Surgeons Society. He is also a member of the National and International Bariatric Surgeons? Association.

Garett performs laparoscopic bariatric surgery including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass surgery and revisional surgery for patients who have previously had lap band surgery. Currently, these surgeries are undergone at Mayo Private Hospital in Taree.

Garett is involved in the training of general surgeons and supervises the Oesophago-gastric Surgery / Bariatric Fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is a member of the RACS court of examiners in general surgery.
